The Centers for Disease Control, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the National Association of School Nurses advocate that student diagnosed with live head lice do not need to be sent home early from school; they can go home at the end of the day, be treated, and return to class after appropriate treatment has begun. Nits may persist after treatment, but successful treatment should kill crawling lice. Head lice can be a nuisance but they have not been shown to spread disease. If a student is found to have lice or nits, the parent(s) and/or guardian(s) will be contacted and alerted of that situation. It will be their option as to whether or not they want their child to go home at that time.

KDHE has lifted the boil order for the City of Galesburg. Repairs are complete, and KDHE has determined that a boil order is not necessary. Galesburg Middle School will resume water usage as usual.
Due to a broken water line, the City of Galesburg has been placed under a boil order until repairs can be completed and the water can be tested by KDHE. Galesburg Middle School may lose water for periods of time while repairs are being made. Safe drinking water from a different source will be provided to students until the boil order is lifted.
No Cheer practice this afternoon, Tuesday, September 8th.

Change to Football Start Time: GMS Football at Moran on Thursday, September 3rd, will start no earlier than 7:00 PM. At 7:00 PM both schools will measure the temperature on the field and determine if it is safe to begin the football game, based on KSHSAA guidance. Volleyball will begin at 5:00 PM as scheduled.
The 25/26 K-8 Yearbooks have arrived at GMS. If you ordered a yearbook we will be handing those out to students today, Wednesday, September 2nd.
GMS School Pictures, Wednesday, September 2nd. Your student should have brought home a price list if you would like to order school photos. Photos will begin at 8:05 with 5th and 6th grade. 7th and 8th grade photos will begin when the students arrive from Erie High School.
Please be aware, start times for outdoor activities, such as football, may change due to KSHSAA heat and humidity restrictions. If heat and humidity readings are too high at the start time of any outdoor activity that activity will have to be delayed or rescheduled. If necessary, we will do our best to delay start times until the temperatures are safe for play.
